CRNA Job Market – CRNAs are in Demand!

CRNA Job Market

CRNAs, or certified registered nurse anesthetists, are quite the commodity in today’s job market. While other industries may be flat or even declining, the medical services industry is booming. With this growth, that means that more medical personnel are needed overall, and the CRNA job market is constantly growing!

Becoming a CRNA

CRNAs are nurses who specialize in administering anesthesia. This can be a dangerous and difficult process, which is why these nurses are required to have additional, specialized training compared to other medical professions. The board certification required for being a certified registered nurse anesthetist is governed by the American Association of Nurse Anesthetists and National Boards of Certification and Re-certification of Nurse Anesthetists. Both of these organizations are very serious in their criteria, so becoming a CRNA is a major accomplishment.

CRNA Job Market  – Demand is High

Given the difficulty in becoming one, the demand in the workplace for CRNAs is high and consistent. Every medical facility that uses anesthesia, for example hospitals, doctors offices, and clinics, needs a CRNA do administer anesthesia. There is a great deal of danger and liability when using anesthesia on patients, so it is important to have someone who is qualified and properly trained to perform the task successfully.

Medical malpractice is a major concern of many physicians and hospitals, as it can be costly and very damaging to reputations. To avoid this, it is important to have competent, properly trained staff members who perform their jobs safely and correctly. Accreditation boards like those mentioned above help to enforce minimum standards and ensure that all patients are treated safely and given the correct type and dosage of anesthesia.

In hospitals and medical facilities all across the country, CRNAs are in demand because of their specialized training and experience. Anesthesia is potentially very dangerous and needs to be used carefully to minimize the risk of death or coma. It is difficult to become a CRNA, and thus, when things are difficult to accomplish, the reward is typically greater.
